Myres Animal Hospital

9/30: Dropped Stache off for vomiting, not eating or drinking, not using the restroom and being lethargic. I received a phone call that morning that they had Stache on IV fluids and they wanted to use Barium to see how everything was flowing through his Gl tract. I told them to go ahead and proceed. That afternoon, I called back to see how he was doing, the tech said that the Barium moved through his GI tract with no issues and they did not see any sort of blockage or foreign body in his system and that everything was looking very positive. They wanted to keep him over night after giving him appetite stimulants to see if he would eat anything. 10/1: I receive a phone call from Dr. Seals in the morning that Stache did in fact have a foreign body in his system and the string was making its way out of his rectum. She said that he was needing surgery and they could get started within an hour. I told her to proceed with surgery. I was informed that he would likely need to stay over night at a facility for monitoring. His surgery started, it took 3.5 hours. I called at 4:30 for an update and they let me know that I will have to be the one to transport him to a facility which is not something I was NEVER informed of. I have never transported an animal after surgery. They asked me to be there at 5:30, I get to the clinic at 5:20, as I am waiting, Dr. Seals brings me a string that I have never seen before. I waited until 5:50 to leave with my cat. I was wondering what was taking so long to bring him, they woke my cat up from sedation while I was sitting there waiting. Stache pulled his catheter out at 5:30. My cat was placed back into a small carrier with no blankets, nothing to keep him warm. He passed away in my car 10 minutes into our 20 minute transport to the over night clinic. I was given no instruction on how to care for my cat or best ways to transport him. I am not a trained professional and to wake a cat up from surgery to be put into a crate, cold and afraid is pure negligence. This could have been prevented and I would not have had to listen to my cat screaming in pure agony until he died. I walked into the over night clinic and the woman asked me "Is that Stache? Is he still cold?" Myers knew that he was cold, they knew enough to call the over night clinic to give them a heads up about their negligent behavior. Also after thinking back on how this played out and an apparent string they found, the only string that was ever brought into my home was purchased and used AFTER he was already sick. So very questionable about a lot of things considering I’ve never seen imaging that was done on either day he was there.

My dog was a former patient here years ago, we left due to cost. We had an emergency and my son took him in for a visit, I was unaware this is where he was taking our dog, they were able to get us in quickly but before being seen they gave us an itemized bill and wanted us to update all his vaccines, the bill was almost $350 and that didn’t even include treatment for his foot, when my son sent me a screenshot of the bill, I called 2x and questioned if these vaccines were optional because I didn’t want vaccines, my dog is an indoor pet, I was told the vaccines were not optional if I wanted treatment, I was very upset but my dog needed treatment, so what do you do. I did a little research online after the fact and discovered that pets do not have to be updated on vaccines except rabies in order to receive treatment at a vet. Later in the visit they called my son back and told him they would hold off on the vaccines because he had fever, the visit was still close to $350, they wanted 2 follow up appointments that I would also be charged for to remove his bandage, I decided to remove the bandage myself, I discovered that they had placed a 2x2 gauze on the wound and it was adhered and dried to his foot, removing the gauze was painful and it also removed the scab, what vet does that, I work in the medical field and you don’t apply that type of gauze to an oozing wound and allow it to dry. This is the most expensive place in town and they will nickel and dime you, find somewhere else to go.
