First visit after moving to the area: dirty exam room (looked like they shaved a dog in there and didn’t sweep up and the floor was gritty with dirt), tech didn’t even seem to acknowledge my dog (our old vet & techs always greeted him with happy voices and pets), didn’t meet the vet until after she examined my dog in the back, felt like it wasn’t a conversation about my dog’s care but a quick chat among many she had that day (I was asking about adjusting pain management for hip dysplasia), was handed an estimate for new X-rays because they said my old vet DID NOT HAVE his X-rays on file so they had nothing to send, called my old vet who happily sent them to me, staff were like “oh I’m so sorry” and feigned ignorance, gave me the wrong amount of pain pills (yes they ended up giving the rest to me), said my dog had kidney failure due to a couple of high levels in blood panel (no urinalysis, no blood pressure, missing values on the blood panel) and gave me a blood pressure medication for him (which could apparently help if he had high blood pressure that related to kidney disease) and basically just said “let us know if you need refills” and that was it (paperwork said to recommend Hills KD and no one actually did in person). They’re also super expensive (like $85 for vet and tech to examine). I’m getting a second opinion because there was lack of trust from the start. I’m waiting on blood and urine test results from another vet, but his blood pressure was fine. The new vet talked with me about next steps if there is truly a concern for the kidney (supplements, diet, kidney friendly pain management). The new vet did the exam in front of me and helped me understand what might be going on during an almost hour long appointment. That’s real quality care. Vet care for Pets does not offer this. Kidney disease is scary and can be chronic. I wouldn’t ever trust this vet for basic care or chronic disease. They seemed to not care and tried to get me to pay more than I needed to (saying I needed $300 X-rays). Do not recommend.
